Where we are located

About Ankorona

Ankorona, a village located 32 km from Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, is chosen for TIA HINA’s operations. The economy of this community and its surroundings are based on agriculture, and living conditions are very difficult. The World Bank has determined that as a normative criterion, 1 dollar per person per day is needed to assess poverty, and the rural population of this area only receives 0.91 dollars (1 dollar = 2190 Ar) per family per day.

Added to this is an annual harvest of 300 kg of rice from the paddy (on average), equivalent to 82 dollars. Imagine how a household survives with an average of 5 members! Thus, the majority of the population lives in poverty, and the assurance of having good health and access to better education, levers to contribute to the development of the region, is far from being acquired.

A Shared Mission of Change

From MIAHY to Tia Hina

In 2010, an NGO called MIAHY was created to contribute to improving this situation. This non-governmental organization includes technicians, doctors, nurses, and farmers. Through a participatory approach, the NGO will ensure effective accountability of the beneficiaries, mainly children and their parents.

The activities of the NGO MIAHY are directly intended for the most deprived families in Ankorona and its surroundings and for individuals or groups who wish to collaborate with the NGO but agree to respect its rules and operating methods. In 2018, the collaboration between the two organizations, MIAHY and TIA HINA, was launched since they have practically the same visions and objectives. In 2020, TIA HINA took over!

🌱 Empowering Communities through Soybean Transformation 🌱Today, Tia Hina Association organized a practical and enriching training on soybean transformation, with the valuable support of MAMAFY Association. Participants learned how to create various soy-based products such as mayonnaise, soy milk, bread, yogurt, and cheese...... 🧀🥛🍞This initiative is designed to equip individuals with skills that support income-generating activities (IGAs) and improve food security for families. With this knowledge, people can start small businesses, feed their families healthier food, and build long-term sources of income.A big thank you to MAMAFY Association for sharing their expertise and for their generous support.
